Zesty Lemon-Habanero Glazed Fish Tacos

Bring together crispy or pan-seared flaky white fish, bright citrus, and a punch of spice using MJD Apiary's Lemon Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey for a taco night upgrade.

Ingredients

  • The Fish: 1.5 lbs white fish fillets (Cod, Mahi-Mahi, or Tilapia)

  • The Honey Glaze:

    • 1/4 cup MJD Apiary Lemon Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey

    • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice

    • 1 tbsp olive oil

    • 1 tsp chili powder

    • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

    • 1/2 tsp salt

  • The Tacos:

    • 8 small corn or flour tortillas, warmed

    • 1.5 cups shredded cabbage or a crisp slaw mix

    • Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped

    • Sliced avocados or homemade guacamole

  • The Quick Crema:

    • 1/2 cup sour cream or Mexican crema

    • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice

    • 1 tsp MJD Apiary Lemon Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey (for an extra kick)

    • A pinch of salt

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Marinate the Fish

  1. Cut the fish fillets into uniform, bite-sized strips or larger portions depending on your taco preference. Pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the MJD Apiary Lemon Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey, lime juice, olive oil, chili powder, cumin, and salt.

  3. Pour half of the marinade over the fish, tossing gently to coat. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Reserve the remaining glaze for later.

2. Cook the Fish

  • Pan-Sear Method: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a splash of oil. Add the fish pieces and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on one side until golden. Flip, and brush the reserved honey glaze over the top. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the fish is opaque and flakes easily.

  • Bake/Air-Fry Method: Alternatively, arrange the fish on a baking sheet, brush with the glaze, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or air-fry at 390°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

3. Mix the Crema

  1. In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, lime juice, a teaspoon of the lemon-habanero honey, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth and creamy.

4. Assemble the Tacos

  1. Lay out your warmed tortillas.

  2. Build a base with a handful of shredded cabbage, followed by the warm, glazed fish pieces.

  3. Drizzle the lemon-habanero crema generously over the top.

  4. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro, sliced avocado, and an extra tiny drizzle of the Lemon Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey if you want to dial up the sweet heat.

Serving Suggestion

Serve these tacos immediately with a side of charred street corn, lime wedges, and chips with salsa!
