Sweet, Tangy & Spicy Dill Pickle Salmon

Bring together rich, flaky salmon and MJD Apiary's unique Dill Pickle Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey for a bold glaze that balances savory dill tang with a fiery habanero kick.

Ingredients

  • The Protein: 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each), skin-on

  • The Glaze & Marinade:

    • 1/4 cup MJD Apiary Dill Pickle Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey

    • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

    • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

    • 1 clove garlic, minced

    • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

    • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

    • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • The Garnish & Finish:

    • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped

    • Thinly sliced dill pickles or quick-pickled jalapeños (optional)

    • Lemon wedges for serving

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep the Salmon

  1. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels (this ensures a great sear and helps the glaze cling). Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.

  2. Place the fillets in a shallow baking dish or a zip-top bag.

2. Mix the Glaze

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the MJD Apiary Dill Pickle Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, minced garlic, and olive oil (or melted butter) until smooth.

  2. Pour half of the honey-pickle glaze over the salmon fillets, ensuring they are well coated. Reserve the other half of the glaze for basting and finishing.

  3. Let the salmon marinate at room temperature for 15 minutes.

3. Cook the Salmon (Pan-Sear & Glaze Method)

  1. Heat a large skillet (cast iron works wonderfully) over medium-high heat with a splash of oil.

  2. Once hot, place the salmon fillets skin-side down. Sear for about 4 to 5 minutes until the skin is crisp and the fish releases easily from the pan.

  3. Flip the fillets and cook for another 2 minutes.

  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Generously brush the reserved honey-pickle glaze over the top of each fillet, letting it bubble up and caramelize into a sticky, glossy crust for about 1 to 2 minutes.

4. Serve

  1. Transfer the salmon to plates and garnish with fresh chopped dill and optional sliced pickles.

  2. Drizzle any remaining pan juices or an extra tiny drop of the infused honey right over the top before digging in!

Serving Suggestion

Pair this bold salmon with garlic butter asparagus, coconut jasmine rice, or a crisp cucumber salad to complement the bright pickle and spice notes.
