Spicy Lemon-Glazed Crispy Cauliflower Bites
Give your appetizers an unforgettable kick with this vibrant, sweet-and-spicy dish. The bright citrus notes and building warmth of the Lemon Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey cut right through the rich, crispy coating, making these bite-sized florets completely addictive.
Ingredients
For the Cauliflower:
1 head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
1 cup all-purpose flour (or a 1:1 gluten-free alternative)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup water (plus 1 to 2 tablespoons more if needed for a smooth batter)
1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs for an extra-crunchy crust
For the Lemon Habanero Glaze:
1/3 cup MJD Apiary Lemon Habanero Infused KICKIN Honey
2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp unsalted butter (or melted coconut oil for dairy-free)
For Garnish:
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
2 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions
Prep and Preheat:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. (Tip: For an even crunchier finish, you can air-fry the florets in batches at 400°F for 12–15 minutes).Mix the Batter:
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and salt. Slowly whisk in the water until you have a smooth, pancake-batter-like consistency.Coat the Florets:
Place the panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow bowl. Dip each cauliflower floret into the wet batter, let any excess drip off, and then roll it firmly in the panko until fully coated. Place the florets in a single layer on your prepared baking sheet.Bake Until Crispy:
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the coating is golden brown and the cauliflower is tender-crisp.Simmer the Glaze:
While the cauliflower bakes, combine the Lemon Habanero KICKIN Honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, fresh ginger, minced garlic, and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy.Toss and Serve:
Transfer the hot, crispy cauliflower bites to a large bowl. Drizzle the warm glaze over the top and toss gently until every piece is evenly coated. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately with a side of cooling ranch or lime crema!
Chef's Note: Habanero heat builds gradually. If you prefer a milder appetizer, start by using 1/4 cup of the honey and mix in an extra splash of regular honey to balance the spice level.
